Hair Extensions at the 2009 Salon & Spa Expo in Long Beach
Just as last year thousands of professionals and students of the beauty industry came to the
2009 Salon & Spa Expo held in the Long Beach  Convention Center. They came to the biggest beauty show on the West Coast to learn more about the latest products the beauty industry has to offer. In the 2008 expo everything related to "hair" enjoyed the largest popularity and this year was nothing different. Hair is HOT. The latest hair styles, hair care products, tools for stylists and of course hair extensions dominated the expo.
Many companies
held classes and demonstrations of their products. Several stylists
showed new cutting techniques and created wonderful hairstyles. Just as last year many visiters wanted to learn more about the different hair extensions. There were some new companies and we also saw many familiar faces. Donna Bella Milan was there and their booth was constantly filled with people who wanted to learn more. Derrick Porter from Donna Bella Milan mentioned that it has been a great year for them. They introduced some new product on the  show and it seemed that they were even more busy than last year. We also spoke with representatives of So.Cap USA (California distributor), Klix Hair Extensions, Hotheads, Cinderella hair and many others and they all found many visitors who showed a great interest in their products.
The modern stylist wants to offer more than the standard salon services. With the still growing popularity of hair extensions it is a great opportunity to add this service to almost any salon. Many stylists who are new to hair extensions are aware of the growing market
and are interested in offering the service to their clients. They wanted to learn more about the different techniques but also experienced extension specialists are looking to learn new methods.
There are many good techniques and many
stylists want to offer more than one system.
Companies we've missed
Although there were many hair extension companies present at the Long Beach expo we did miss some of the big names in the business that we expected to see. Paris
Hilton's Dream Catchers for example did not come to Long Beach this year.
Last year they had a large booth and Paris Hilton herself came to the show for a press conference. This year nothing.
We also missed Hairdreams and hairlocs who both had an impressive booth in 2008. We have tried to contact all of them to find out why they were not at the biggest beauty show on the West Coast but so far we did not receive any comment.
The absence of some known companies did not hurt all the other hair extension companies. They must have enjoyed the large crowds we saw in their booths.
Conclusion: Hair Extensions are still very HOT.
