Hair extensions have become a very popular way of having hair enhancements whilst waiting for your natural hair to grow. When making the decision to have hair extensions always do your home work. Make sure the extensionist has a portfolio and ask to see certificates for the technique they are about to use. Reluctancy with any of these areas often means there is a problem.

I have worked in the hair dressing industry for 17 years and I am qualified in over 10 different techniques and still learning more. There are many various types of hair extension and hair loss procedures for clients, but there is a shortage of fully qualified multiple techniques consultants. I feel this is why there are so many complaints about hair extensions. Which if applied correctly are very enjoyable and non-damaging. I have been wearing extensions for years and I just would not be without them now..

Maintenance is another vital area in hair extensions, this service should always be offered and booked in within a 4 to 5week gap after being installed, just to check everything is intact, this is due to hair growth which varies in everybody. It also keeps your hair extensions looking immaculate for the 3 to 4 month period of wearing them and allows for any adjustments that may need to be made. A maintenance sheet should always be provided for reference and after care products which do not have to be expensive, just don’t get those shampoos and conditioners that are full of amino acids.

A good extension consultant will be able to cater for any client that walks through their door and not just apply extensions because that is the technique they know. On some occasions clients need to go through a treatment plan to get their hair up to scratch before having any extensions applied. For this reason I have turned down many clients, but they are pleased in the long run that I did.

I absolutely enjoy applying hair extensions and always invest in learning new techniques on the market and trying hair out on myself before purchasing for my clients. This way I am not falsely selling a product that I am not sure of my self. Remi hair and Real Spanish hair (very expensive) are my choice for my clients because they have been tried and tested by myself.
